Day 5: El Cant del Ocells - The Song of the Birds

Updated: Dec 11, 2020

"You must work, we must work...to make the world worthy of it's children."

Pablo Casals

Albert Einstein is remembered as one of the greatest physicists in the history of science. He was a Nobel Prize winner, the developer of the theory of relativity and...a musician.

In one of his late journals he wrote, “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician.

I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music... I get the most joy in life out of music.” Albert Einstein

Our song for today is a traditional Catalan Christmas carol and lullaby.

"El Cant del Ocells," "The Song of the Birds," was made famous by one of the pre-eminent cellists of our times - Pablo Casals.

Two geniuses of our time considered that music provided joy - and the context of something far greater; that it was the essence of humanity.

Why is "El Cant Del Ocells" such a significant sound symbol representing strength and peace?
