“I've started my journey of learning English as a second language when I was six years old in my home country. I was enrolled in a bilingual school, which its primary teaching technique was: memorization.
Since I got my Law degree, I've been working in international companies; however, my struggle to communicate with others in English started to be more noticeable when I moved to Houston, TX. It was when two of my mentors suggested that I needed to go back to English classes that I decided to ask for support.
I wanted to choose differently this time, but I felt insecure because I didn't know other learning techniques besides memorization.
I enrolled myself in private lessons at Performance Communication. My instructor showed the ability to identify the areas where I was struggling and assisted me in finding the confidence to find my own solutions. We practiced grammar during our classes, but I was not asked to memorize the rules this time.
After I finished my lessons, my curiosity about learning the English language has increased, and I've been savoring the experience. I feel grateful for having Mariam's team in my journey of connecting with others by using the English language.”
